QWS at Art in Action

Art in Action booth with tea towels

The weather smiled on the Art in Action event in downtown Qualicum Beach and we were there with our tea towels a flutter.  Art in Action is a local event organized by The Old School House Art Centre.  It takes place in downtown Qualicum Beach and is an opportunity for local crafts people to exhibit, demonstrate and sell their works.  The Qualicum Weavers and Spinners have been a part of this event since its inception.

The event is popular with tourists and a chance for them to pick up a momentum or a gift for someone.  Our towels and scarves tend to be quite popular as they are not breakable, they pack well and they suit just about everyone on the gift list.  It is pleasant to think that the items we put so much of our spirit into are going travelling and will be treasured by someone far away.  We hope they bring back memories of a pleasant stay on Vancouver Island.

Our next event will be at the Qualicum Beach Museum, Children's Day on August 17th.  We will have demonstrations and an opportunity for kids and parents alike to try their hand at spinning and weaving.

At the end of August we will be at the lighthouse fall fair.  Come for the homemade pies and fresh corn and see our display.  It will be "all about wool" and what you can do with some carders, knitting needles, a loom or just a pair of hands.  Look under Events on the sidebar for a link to the Bow Horne Bay site.
